BENIN – The Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness, Abumere Anthony Ehizojie II, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Dr Thomas Attah, the Managing Director and CEO of Funds & Electronic Transfer Solutions Ltd.
The traditional ruler conferred the “Ekpen of Ekpoma Kingdom” meaning “The Leopard of Ekpoma Chieftaincy title, on Attah during the Annual new yam (Ihuen) festival held in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo on Friday.
Dr. Thomas Attah is a distinguished leader in the fintech sector, currently serving as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Funds & Electronic Transfer Solutions LTD.
Conferring the title on Atta, the Onojie of Ekpoma said the conferment and honor was hinged on Attah’s love for the people and his service to humanity, adding that the Ekpoma kingdom was proud of him and his achievements.
In his response, Chief Attah who expressed gratitude to the Onojie for the honour, promised to continue his service to humanity, just as he also appealed to people of his status to dedicate themselves to community service.
“It is a great honour and I am very glad and grateful for it and this is a testament to the need for community development.
“And I want to advocate and appeal to the people of my status, but also contemporaries that we should all dedicate ourselves to community service.
“Let us also try as we can to be of good tides to our fellow folks.
“My promise to the people of Esanland, and also Edo State in general is that I will continue to deliver and give more to the society and will also try to see how I can add value anywhere I find myself, ” Attah said.
Mrs Julian Thomas Attah, the wife of the Ekpen of Ekpoma Kingdom thanked the traditional ruler for the honour done to her husband and promised to support him in his community service.
Some of Dr Attah’s friends and associates who spoke on the chieftaincy title said the honour was well deserved.
Mr Aideyanjie Christopher, said the conferment of the chieftaincy title on Attah was an honour well deserved.
Christopher, who is the Assistant Director, Information and Communication, Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) said Attah deserved the honour due to his contribution to humanity.
While describing Dr Attah as somebody with a heart of gold, Christopher declared, “this title is very deserving because of his contributions to humanity, not just above his people, not just among the Esan people, but throughout the nation.
“He is somebody of a very high personality, he is kind to a fault, he is very supportive and I think this title is long over due,”
