Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc On Edo Community

Residents of Lampese in Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State have expressed shock over the rainstorm that affected some buildings and displaced some people from their homes in the community.

A resident narrated that the incidence occured on Friday as a result of heavy downpour which also affected a transformer.

Meanwhile, residents of the community have appealed to state and local governments, as well as concerned authorities to come to their aid by proffering solution to their plights.

They also called on the government and relevant authorities to support in resettling the displaced persons.

Chairman of the local government, Hon Tajudeen Suleman Esq, who was away on an official engagement, said via telephone that he had mobilised LGA officials to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.

Suleman also promised to visit victims as soon as he returns to the local government on Saturday, while also indicating that he was in touch with the state’s Deputy Governor, Engineer Omobayo Godwins and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on moves to fast-track the process to resettle the affected persons.
