Proposed merger of opposition parties can’t oust APC – Osita Okechukwu
Former Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita
Okechukwu, has explained why the recent calls for merger by opposition
political parties to remove the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, won’t
work.
Okechukwu, who is a foundation member of APC, gave his
opinion on Sunday in Enugu while reacting to the recent calls for merger
trumpeted by Prof. Pat Utomi and former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar,
while commenting on the recent presidential election in Senegal.
According to the ex-VON boss, the call lacks proper
contextual foundation and dynamism.
Recall that there has been strident calls for
merger by Utomi, Atiku and a host of others from major opposition parties while
congratulating Bassirou Faye, Senegal’s President-elect, for repeating the feat
achieved by the ruling APC in 2015.
