Power Outage: UCH Resident Doctors Commence Indefinite Strike

6 days ago 18

IBADAN: Residents Doctors at the University College Hospital (UCH), in Ibadan are now on an indefinite strike over power supply cut into their hostels.

This was made known by the association’s General Secretary, Dr Uthman Adedeji while speaking with journalists on the prolonged blackout in the doctor’s residential quarters

Dr Adedeji pointed out that the indefinite strike followed the expiration of the Monday February 17 ultimatum by the
association in a communique.

He lamented that while electricity had been restored at the hospital, only some parts of the residential quarters were reconnected, adding, “Arising from the just-concluded Emergency General Meeting of ARD UCH which was convened to appraise the current situation, it was observed that a part of the residential quarters were reconnected.”

“In the light of the prevailing circumstance, we are left with no other option than to embark on the earlier planned total and indefinite strike until all residential quarters are sorted (taken care of)”, he said

Dr Adedeji added,“We acknowledge the efforts of UCH Management towards meeting our demand, but a lot needs to be done to guarantee uninterrupted service delivery.”

Adedeji assured all that the association would regularly review the current imbroglio infringing on the welfare of its members.
