Oyo APC rescinds decision to boycott LG polls

The Oyo State Chapter of the APC has reversed its decision to boycott the April 27, local government elections.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) had announced that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would not be deployed for the local government elections, citing a delay in responding to its request from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This led to the APC threatening to withdraw from the elections.

Following a meeting organised by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, with party leaders, state executive council members, as well as the chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the council polls, at the state party secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, the party said it had decided to participate in the elections with or without BVAS.

Adelabu, speaking with journalists after the meeting, said the party had reunited its ranks and was fully prepared to win the council polls.
