Victor Osimhen grabbed a brace on Monday for Galatasaray in a 2-1 victory at Rizespor ahead of Thursday’s Europa League return leg tie against AZ Almaar.
The first goal came in the 47th minute, just when things were getting tough for the defending champs.
Osimhen soared in the box to meet a pinpoint cross from Przemysław Frankowski and powered a header past the keeper to give Galatasaray the lead.
Just when Fernando Muslera and his team looked in control, Rizespor struck back. In the 54th minute, Ali Sowe capitalized on a perfect assist from David Akintola, finishing inside the box to level the score.
But in the dying minutes, the Nigerian “superhero” stepped up once again. In the 86th minute, Osimhen delivered another textbook header, sealing the win for the Turkish champions.
With this result, Galatasaray grabs three crucial points and stays top of the Süper Lig with 63 points, keeping a six-point lead over Fenerbahce, now managed by José Mourinho. Meanwhile, Rizespor remains in 12th place with 27 points.
