One dies of heart attack as bride-to-be’s family members and passengers foil kidnap attempt, kill bandit in Zamfara

The family of a bride-to-be and a group of passengers have thwarted a kidnapping attempt and killed a bandit in Zamfara State.

 

It was gathered that the incident unfolded when the family of the bride-to-be and other travellers were ambushed by bandits along the Talata Mafara-Gusau highway.

 

According to PRNigeria reports, the bride’s family had embarked on a journey to purchase clothing and other wedding materials in Kano.

 

However, their plans took a harrowing turn when armed bandits targeted them.

 

An eyewitness who spoke to PRNigeria revealed that the response was spontaneous, following the bandits’ attempt to kidnap the passengers.

 

Despite one of the bandits managing to escape, the brave passengers captured two AK-47 rifles.

 

A few kilometres away from the Fangal Tama checkpoint, the travellers heard gunshots echoing all around. To their shock, they encountered two well-armed bandits on motorcycles, blocking the road and halting vehicles,” the witness narrated. 

 

“The bandits immediately ordered the young woman (the bride-to-be), her father, mother, and two other relatives to exit their car

 

“With guns pointed at them, the terrified family members were coerced to follow the bandits into the nearby forest.

 

“Realizing the grave danger they faced in forced abduction, the passengers decided to act swiftly. They rallied together and launched an attack on one of the two bandits

 

“In a fierce struggle, they managed to overpower him, resulting in his instant death. The other bandit, however, escaped, leaving behind his firearm

 

“The courageous group retrieved the two guns and emerged from the forest. They promptly handed the weapons over to the military at a nearby checkpoint.”

 

It was further gathered that amidst the courageous effort of the group, one of the passengers suffered a sudden heart attack and later died in hospital. 

 

In a similar development, a young man identified as Muhammad Umar (pictured) was shot dead in Zamfara State.

 

According to his friend, Bash Tazan, an educationist, who narrowly escaped death, they were travelling from Gusau to Funtua when the gunmen opened fired on his car, killing him.

 

“Inna lillahi wa’inna ilayhi rajioon. Has anyone ever thought you were dead a real death? I’m still receiving alot of calls and prayers from friends and well-wishers mostly from Sokoto and Zamfara to sympathize and condole with my Family only to find out I’M STILL ALIVE and healthy. This happens after the death of a Friend Muhammad Umar who was shot dead by bandits along Gusau to Funtua road. Muhammad was driving right behind me when he was shot dead and people thought it was me. Allah yajikan shi da rahma. Nikam da sauran shan ruwa dan Ina raye cikin koshin lafiya. Nagode da Addu’ar ku kuma Idan tagasken tazo Pls say a prayer for me.”
