A legal luminary and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Dr Benson Enikuomehin, has called on President Bola Tinubu to wade into the controversy trailing the conduct of the primary of the party in the state ahead of the governorship election.

Briefing newsmen in Lagos, he called for a fresh governorship primary of the party in the state.

He said this is imperative because the initial process was full of irregularities, adding that a new committee should be empowered to conduct a fresh primary.

It would be recalled that the primary election conducted by the Governorship Primary Election Committee headed by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, produced the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who polled a total of 48,569 votes in the direct primaries.

Close to Aiyedatiwa was Mayowa Akinfolarin who garnered 15,343 votes, while Chief Olusola Oke came third position with 14,865 votes.

Enikuomehin, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos, disclosed that four aspirants have submitted their petitions to the party’s appeal committee.

He expressed concerns over the primaries, alleging the process was marred by irregularities.

He stressed that the demand of the petitioners was the call for a re-run of the primary, adding that there should be an overhaul of the process, including the electoral committee.
