Nwabali doubtful for Super Eagles friendlies after injury in South Africa

Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali could now miss the Super Eagles upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali after sustaining an injury in Chippa United’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash against champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, DAILY POST reports.

Nwabali was taken off the pitch in the 73rd minute of the encounter.

Chippa United lost the keenly contested encounter 2-0.

The severity of what is suspected to be a knee injury will only be ascertained in the coming days.

Nwabali was named in Nigeria’s squad for the friendlies against the Black Stars of Ghana and Eagles of Mali on Saturday.

The 27-year-old had an outstanding campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles will face Ghana at the Stade de Marrakech on March 22.

The friendly against Mali is slated for the same stadium four days later.
