Nigerian govt to sanction Discos if Band A customers don’t enjoy 20 hours electricity supply
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has said the
Nigerian government will sanction electricity distribution companies, DisCos,
that fail to supply 20 hours of electricity to customers in the Band A
category.
Adelabu disclosed this on Tuesday via X.
He said the recent tariff hike is targeted only at
electricity consumers under the Band A category, getting at least 20 hours of
power supply.
Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission,
NERC, last Tuesday increased the electricity tariffs of customers under the
Band A category to N225 per kilowatt-hour from N66/kWh.
