Nigeria Mourns Ghana’s High Commissioner Rashid Bawa

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed its condolences following the death of Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Rashid Bawa.

Appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2017, Bawa died after a short illness last week Thursday.

 

In a heartfelt statement from the spokesperson of the Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisca K. Omayuli, the Nigerian government shared its profound grief and extended its sympathies to the people and government of Ghana on the loss of H.E. Rashid Bawa.

Highlighting Bawa’s significant contributions to the deepening of Nigeria-Ghana relations, Omayuli praised his exemplary diplomatic service, noting his pivotal role in enhancing bilateral ties and fostering a spirit of brotherhood between the two West African nations.

 

“H.E. Rashid Bawa’s exceptional dedication to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria was remarkable. His efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual respect have left an indelible mark. His absence will be deeply felt,” Omayuli remarked.

The statement concluded with prayers for the eternal repose of Bawa’s soul and for divine comfort for his family, as well as for the people and government of Ghana, as they navigate this period of mourning.
