NHIA Clarifies Report On Website Inactivity

ABUJA – The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has refuted claims in a recent news report alleging that its official website has been inactive for several months. 

In a statement signed by Mr. Emmanuel Ononokpono, Head of Media & Public Relations, and made available to journalists on Sunday in Abuja, the NHIA clarified that its official and fully operational website remains www.nhia.gov.ng. 

According to the statement, the website referenced in the report actually belongs to the defunct National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), NHIA’s predecessor, and is currently being decommissioned as part of the agency’s digital transition efforts. 

“The NHIA’s current website, launched three months ago, is a significant upgrade designed to support our ongoing data migration efforts and provide an improved user experience for stakeholders,” the statement read. 

The NHIA urged media professionals to seek clarification before publishing reports, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement. 

“We value and welcome feedback from our stakeholders and encourage the media to contact us for accurate information and clarifications,” Ononokpono added.
