Nasarawa United Football Club has announced the mutual departure of its Technical Director, Coach Kabir Dogo, following a series of underwhelming performances in the ongoing 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the club’s Director of Media, Eche Amos, the management explained that the decision was reached after a thorough review of the team’s performance, which has fallen short of expectations.

“Despite the efforts of the coaching staff and players, results have not improved to the level required, and we have taken the difficult decision to make a change,” the statement read.

Dogo, who was on his second stint with the club, expressed his gratitude to the management, players, and fans for their support during his tenure.

“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity given to me to manage this great club. The management, players, and fans have been incredible, and I wish the team all the best in their future endeavours,” he said.

To salvage the club’s season, Nasarawa United has appointed former Super Eagles Chief Coach, Salisu Yusuf, as Dogo’s replacement. The club believes that Yusuf’s wealth of experience will help turn around its fortunes in the remainder of the league campaign.

“The Kaduna State-born CAF ‘A’ licensed coach, Salisu Yusuf, boasts an intimidating coaching CV, both at club and national team levels, and we hope that his coming will help reposition the club,” the statement added.

The club reassured its supporters of its commitment to improving performance and competing at the highest level of Nigerian club football.

“We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this period of transition,” Amos stated.

Fans and analysts will be eager to see how Yusuf’s leadership impacts the team as they strive to revive their NPFL campaign.
