My life could have changed for good if not for her anger- Nigerian man invited for a game in Australia when he was 15 recounts how his mum burnt his travel documents after he hissed at her

A Nigerian man, Naetochukwu, has recounted how his mum’s anger truncated his visit to Australia many years ago. In a post shared on his X handle, Naetochukwu said he was scouted to play for a chess team in Melbourne, Australia when he was 15. He said one faithful Sunday, his mother came back from church and began yelling at him. In anger, he hissed at her. Infuriated by his action, his mum said she has to tame his excesses now and so she took his travel documents, poured kerosine on it and lit it. He said he was only able to save his passport from the envelope.

He said he doesn’t know if his mum regrets her action but his life could have changed for good if not for her anger. Read his story below
