Music, A Needed Therapy For Survival In Nigeria – Olaoba

Gospel HighLife singer, Bidemi Olaoba, has said music is a much-needed therapy to navigate the complexity of Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.

‘The Bible Says’ crooner and music composer made this known in a statement released on Wednesday ahead of his forthcoming concert slated for May 23, 2024 titled, ‘In His Presence’, which is scheduled to hold at the Sport Complex of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

“If you look at the economic situation in Nigeria today, it takes grit and rugged faith to hang on and not give in to depression,” he said. “But the consolation is that despite the hardship in the land, the Bible says in Philippians 4:4 that we should ‘rejoice in the Lord always’.”

“One atmosphere that stimulates joy is an atmosphere of music, not anyhow music but edifying and Godly songs.

“From the days of the Bible, music carries an atmosphere of therapy, music is therapeutic to all humans regardless of the challenges of life you are facing. David simulated an atmosphere of music and this became a therapy for Saul. David used music to encourage himself anytime he was at the low ebb of life. Music carries potency being that it stimulates joy.

“I believe this is one of the reasons God has laid my forthcoming concert in my heart. It will be an atmosphere of pure joy in the Holy Ghost, a place where people can come and dance away their sorrow and find strength to overcome while rejoicing in the Lord.”

Known for singing Gospel HighLife music in a Fuji Style, Olaoba has six studio singles to his credit, two live performance compilations, and collaborations with other popular gospel artistes.
