The autopsy results of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, would be ready in three to four weeks according to the director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari.

The assurance was given on Wednesday by Somiari while testifying during a coroner’s inquest into the death of the singer.

Due to the controversy surrounding his death, the state government of Lagos demanded a coroner’s inquest.

The inquest is being held at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court and started on October 13, 2023.

According to NAN, defense attorneys cross-examined the witness during the inquiry.

Somiari informed the coroner, Adedayo Shotobi, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of death.”

“We searched for multiple possibilities, to check if poison was involved in the death of Mohbad since no actual cause was mentioned.”

The forensic expert assured the public of adequate security and monitoring of samples for the autopsy.

“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.

Sadiq “Spending” Ayobami, who also testified, stated that he last saw the deceased a day before his passing.

He claimed that after the two of them went to a concert in Ikorodu, he went home before Mohbad passed away.

With regard to the paternity of the singer’s child, Abiodun Kolawole, an activist on behalf of the African Women Lawyers Association, advised the singer’s parents to take their issues to court rather going to social media.

The coroner ordered everyone involved in the inquest to be present on April 15, postponing the hearing until then.
