The Ekiti State University Football team known as EKSU GALACTICOS have emerged the third place winners of the 2025 edition of the MOB UNITY CUP Championship.
EKSU GALACTICOS in the third place match decided at the Christ School playing ground in Ado Ekiti defeated Alara football club.
The Ekiti State University team opened scoring through a well connected free kick at the edge of the box which eventually resulted in an own goal in the fifth minute of play.
EKSU went on to score the second goal in the 33rd minute of play through Adesoji Semilore who dribbled past two defenders.
The second half produced no goal as both teams lost many scoring chances thus leaving the goal line at two nil at the end of the regulation time.
With the completion of the third place match, the stage is now set for the final match both in the male and female categories.
According to a press statement by the chairman media committee of the championship Mr Toyin Ayoola, the organizing committee of the tournament will meet to fix a date for the final.
The final match in the male category is between NYSC Samba boys of Irepodun/Irepodun local government and Delight football club of Ado while the final in the female category is between Golden Queens and Ajakaye Memorial Babes of Iyin also in Irepodun Irepodun/Ifelodun.
This second edition of the championship has been rated as one of the best organized youth soccer tournaments in Ekiti State considering the organization and rewards for outstanding teams and players.
Just like the last edition of the championship, the winners of this year’s tournament will go home with One Million Naira while the runners up will recieve Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira and the third place winners will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira both in the male and female categories.
Aside the winners of this year’s edition, there will also be mouth-watering gifts for outstanding players while the sponsor of the championship Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District has also assured of other goodies for other stakeholders including coaches referees and outstanding sports writers.
Recall that at the completion of the last edition, Senator Bamidele gave scholarship to some coaches in a bid to enhance their professional coaching capacity.
