American multinational fast food chain, McDonald’s, on Friday, suffered systems outages across multiple countries, including Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Austria, making it difficult for its customers to order for food.

LEADERSHIP reports that McDonald’s is the world’s largest fast food restaurant chain, serving over 69 million customers daily in over 100 countries in more than 40,000 outlets.

In Japan, the fast-food giant acknowledged the issue, attributing it to a “system failure” and urging patrons to be patient as they work to restore service.

Social media platforms buzzed with complaints from disgruntled customers, echoing frustrations experienced in various countries. Reports of technical difficulties flooded in, painting a picture of widespread disruption beyond Japan’s borders.

McDonald’s promptly addressed concerns, assuring the public that the issue was not related to cyber-security threats, thereby allaying fears of potential data breaches or malicious attacks. However, the exact nature of the technical glitch remains undisclosed.

Downdetector, a prominent system for monitoring IT disruptions in businesses, recorded a surge in reported issues with the McDonald’s UK app, with problems escalating from approximately 05:00 GMT on Friday. This spike in reports mirrored the growing frustration among users attempting to access the app’s services.

While the primary focus centered on regions like Japan and the UK, reports emerged of similar outages in other nations, including China and Sweden, underscoring the global scale of the McDonald’s technical predicament.

In Australia, Reddit users lamented significant disruptions, adding their voices to the chorus of complaints echoing across social media channels.
