The chairman/ Chief Executive officer of the National Drugs law enforcement Agency ( NDLEA), Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd.), has commissioned a world standard multi- billion naira NDLEA Barrack in Adamawa state to take care of the housing and office needs of officers and men of the agency in both state and zonal level.
Speaking at the event, Marwa, said that lack of befitting accomodation for officers and men of the agency in its 36 years of existence make their duties more challenging and put their lives and that of their families in danger with some of them being trailed to their homes.
He said that the event is a significant milestone in his efforts to strengthen NDLEA and reflect the federal government commitments to the safety, efficiency and welfare of the staff of the agency and other security agencies to enable them performed their duties effectively and win the war against drug abuse and other heinous crime in the country.
The chairman further reiterated his commitments and that of the federal government to give priority to the welfare and need of personnel, addressed their challenges and create an enabling environment for them to discharged their duties with a charge on them to redoubled their efforts against substance abuse in the country.
Marwa commended president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitments towards the agency and completion of the project which started under the immidiate past administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Also speaking, the Attorney General and minister of justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, urged men and officers of the agency to be inspired with this efforts and recommit themselves to the discharged of their responsibility in the fight against drug abuse in the country, which he described “as a fight for our nation future.”
According to him, it is also a battle to protect our youths from the devastating effects of substance abuse which would go along way to rid our communities of violence and destructions that often accompany illicit drug trade.
