Man handed 14-year jail sentence with an option of N100k fine for sodomizing 12-year-old boy in Bauchi

A 39-year-old man identified as Sa’idu Mohammed has been handed a 14-year jail sentence by Justice Mu’azu Abubakar of the Bauchi State High Court on Tuesday, April 16, for sodomising a 12-year-old boy.

 

Prosecution counsel, Mr S. M. Toro, told the court that the convict on June 16, 2022, lured the victim to a river in the Yelwa community and sodomised him.

 

It was stated in court that he contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007. He also contravened Section 13 of the Anti-Kidnapping, Theft of Cattle and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.

Handing out the jail sentence after the convict pleaded with him to temper justice with mercy, Justice Abubakar sentenced him to 14 years in prison with an option of N100,000 fine.
