Man City target Lucas Paqueta “very happy” at West Ham

Lucas Paqueta has been heavily tipped to join Man City from West Ham this summer but the Brazilian star has stated that he is “very happy” at the London club.

The Manchester club attempted to sign the midfielder last summer and having agreed to make the move to the Etihad, the deal collapsed when it emerged that the 26-year-old was under investigation for breaching betting rules.

There has still been no conclusion from this investigation and the outcome will determine whether Man City make another move for the West Ham player.

Paqueta joined the Irons from Lyon back in the summer of 2022 and he has been a big hit at the London Stadium ever since.

The midfielder will likely leave if Man City come calling again this summer but if not, the Brazil international has stated that he is “very happy” at West Ham.

Paqueta was recently asked by ESPN Brazil if he will leave the East London club to join the Premier League champions this summer, to which the player responded: “I have to do my job here at West Ham. I have great respect for the club. I’m very happy here, if you say no, I’ll be lying.

“Of course it involves a lot of things that are happening off the field, but I’m still focused on doing my best, finishing the season well. I started well, I hope to finish well. What they say (about Manchester City) is everything from the last window. Now, it’s time to finish the season and wait for what will happen.”

Fans of West Ham will be happy to hear that Paqueta is content at the London Stadium but the likelihood of the midfielder leaving is high.

However, it depends on the betting investigation and maybe the Hammers’ new manager as he could have a role in convincing the Brazilian to stay for another season.
