David Moyes

Lucas Paqueta agrees personal terms

Despite David Moyes seemingly not being flavour of the month for the West Ham faithful, the Scot has still done a remarkable job during the 2023/24 season.

They had a tremendous wobble when Lucas Paqueta was injured, and yet still remain on course to finish in the European places again.

Not to mention that they’re in with a chance of landing the Europa League this season, even if unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen currently stand in their way of progressing to the semi-finals.

Moyes’ record at West Ham in two-legged European ties is impressive, and it may be a surprise to some if the Hammers were to knock Xabi Alonso’s side out, but the players themselves may believe that they’ve every chance of doing so.

In any event, this season will soon come to a close, and to that end, the club already need to be making certain arrangements for the 2024/25 campaign.

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta still has a personal terms agreement with Man City

Whether that includes relieving Moyes of his duties, or simply seeing the Scot walk away at the end of his current contract is unclear, however, it does seem that Paqueta will be on his way.

According to Foot Mercato (h/t TeamTalk), the personal terms that the Brazilian agreed with Man City last summer, before a deal collapsed at the last minute, are still agreed.

That affords City the possibility of going back in for the player this summer, particularly if Bernardo Silva, as expected, moves on.

Paqueta’s personal terms agreement could see West Ham star move on

It was understood that a fee of £80m had previously been agreed between the two clubs, though it isn’t clear if that arrangement will be honoured.

If the player is dead set on moving on, then anything over and above the club record fee that the Hammers paid for Paqueta would surely be acceptable, allowing the Hammers to strengthen elsewhere.
