The Lagos state Police command has confirmed the rescue of six abandoned children found in a residential apartment within an estate in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.
The command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Benjamin Hundeyin, stated the development weekend in Lagos as he highlighted ongoing investigations into the matter.
Hundeyin said the incident occurred on February 18, 2025, at approximately 12:00 hours.
The case was initially reported at the Ejigbo Police Station before being transferred to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command. Authorities received credible information that six minors were living alone in a residential home without adult supervision.
“The children, aged between 7 and 13 years, have been rescued and are currently in protective shelters provided by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development,” Hundeyin stated.
He further said preliminary investigations suggest their mother is currently abroad for medical treatment and had entrusted them to a caregiver. Authorities are making efforts to contact her while further inquiries continue to establish more facts about the situation.
