Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, has provided financial relief and essential support to no fewer than 500 widows in his constituency.
The initiative, tagged “A Widows’ Valentine Special,” was held at the Unity Centre, the Constituency Office of the lawmaker at Elliot Bus Stop, Ifako-Ijaiye.
The event, which is the fourth edition, empowered 500 widows in his constituency with cash gifts and food items.
The food items distributed included rice, garri, semo, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, salt, sugar, custard, among others.
Adewale emphasised the importance of uplifting vulnerable women, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and cared for.
“Widows play a vital role in our society, yet many face economic hardship. This initiative is about showing them love, care, and ensuring they are not forgotten,” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciations to the lawmaker for his generosity, saying that the financial and material supports would help ease their burdens.
The event was graced by traditional rulers, community leaders, as well as religious and political figures, all of whom commended Adewale for his continuous dedication to empowering the people.
