Kwara State Commissioner of Police (CP), Victor Olaiya, has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of three siblings who suffocated in a car parked in their compound in Ilorin on Sunday.

Spokeswoman of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Tuesday, told our correspondent that while the family intended to settle the matter internally, “The CP has directed the SIB to go ahead with a discreet investigation in the bid to get to the root of the matter.”

Recall that police operatives visited the scene of the incident at No 8, Boluke Lane, Zango-Kulende Quarters, on Monday.

However, it was learnt that they could not gain entrance into the building as the gate was under lock and key and nobody was around to welcome them. The operatives then proceeded to the family house of the victim’s mother, Shade Silifat, at Ile Magaji on Taiwo Isale Road, Ilorin, where she was recuperating after she fainted as a result of the children’s death.

Meanwhile, the landlord of the residence where the siblings died issued a quit notice to their father, Abdulkadir Jimoh, who went into hiding after the incident.

City & Crime further learnt that one Abdulkadir, a barber, was said to have borrowed the car in which the siblings died from his sister for the naming ceremony of his newborn baby by his second wife.
