Eid-El-Fitr: Katsina government declares Friday April 9 public holiday

In addition to the three-day public holiday declared by the federal government, the governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared Friday, April 12, a work-free day.

This was announced in a statement issued by the state commissioner of information and Culture Dr Bala Salisu Zango, on Tuesday, April 9.

“Katsina State Government decision to declare Friday as work free day follow the good gesture of Federal Government for extending Ed-fitr public holidays to Thursday 11th of this month,” the statement read in part.

The statement added that the governor had taken the step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the ED-ELFITR Sallah celebration with their families. Gov Radda then wished the good people of Katsina state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.

Recall that the federal government had earlier declared a two-day public holiday for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and had to extend a third day due to the lack of sighting of the moon of Shawwal, taking the holiday to Thursday.
