KATSINA – Senator Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, has promised to assist in ensuring the creation of Karadua state.
Senator Barau made the promise while speaking at the Senator Muntari Dandutse Empowerment programme held in Funtua, Katsina state on Saturday.
He said as the Senate committee chairman on constitution review, “I will work with Senator Dandutse to ensure the creation of Karadua state to bring progress and development to the axis”.
He noted that, the creation of any state is very important for the development of any area, stressing that as a member of the constitution review committee, the documents would be reviewed to give way for any state creation.
“If it is the only state that is slated for the zone, I will be ready to support the creation of Karadua state, after the review exercise has been done and all bottlenecks cleared”, he said.
To further support the efforts of the empowerment programme of Senator Muntari Dandutse, the Deputy Senate President pledged the sum of N24 million to the LGAs in the senatorial zone to boost it’s economy.
Senator Barau also promised to assist the local councils security agencies with fifty motorcycles and to build a lecture for the newly established university of medical sciences in Funtua.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda represented by his Deputy Hon Faruk Lawal Jobe, in his remarks, appreciated Senator Dandutse’s intervention, stressing that, the empowerment programme aligns with the State Government’s policies.
Jobe who used the occasion to highlight the achievements of the Radda led administration within its first two years, reaffirmed its commitment to launching people-oriented programmes that will improve the lives of the citizens.
On his part, Senator Muntari Dandutse, Senate committee chairman on TETFUND, in his address, commended the deputy senate president, other top government officials for their concerns and success of the empowerment programme.
Dandutse, who expressed his readiness for the development of the zone, said he would continue to pursue programmes that would benefit women, youths and the vulnerable in the district.
To this end, he said eight trailer loads of fertilizer, four of rice, maize, 100 Keke, 350 motorcycles, 500 sewing machines and 500 grinding machines will be distributed amongst all strata of the citizens to better their economic system.
