Insecurity: redouble your efforts, Abiodun tells Nigerian soldiers

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on the Nigerian soldiers to redouble their efforts in combating myriad of security challenges facing the nation. 

Abiodun spoke during the 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration organized by the Nigerian Army’s 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, described the Nigerian Army as hope of the nation, saying the soldiers could not afford to fail in the face of daunting security challenges.

“I want to assure you that I will continue to provide you with all the necessary support for you to carry out your responsibility in protecting the lives and properties of the law-abiding citizens. I urge you to double your efforts especially in the face of the myriad of security challenges facing the nation.

“To all the personnel of 35 Artillery Brigade, please know that the Nigerian Army is indeed the hope of the nation and you are all privileged to be part of this noble force. I call on you to remain focused, committed and continue to discharge your duties professionally,” Abiodun said.

The governor applauded the Brigade’s joint collaboration and synergy of effort with the Nigerian Police and other security agencies, saying the efforts have provided “a peaceful atmosphere in the State where people feel secured to go about their daily activities.”

In his address, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, noted that WASA offers soldiers an opportunity to celebrate diversity, foster unity, and provide a social platform for officers, soldiers, their families, and friends to interact and bond after a year of rigorous activities.

Addressing the officers and soldiers, Brigadier General Aminu urged them to prioritize training, professionalism, and welfare while aligning with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff.

He commended their hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty, calling for continued efforts to maintain the standard in the year 2024.
