IGP Strikers commence preparations for 2024 polo season

The Nigeria Police Polo Association has commenced preparations ahead of the resumption of the 2024 national polo tour, setting a lofty target of surpassing their impressive performances of the outing 2023 polo season.

Last year, the Police teams popularly known within the polo circle as the IGP Striker participated and won laurels at major international polo tournaments across the country, finishing tops in Kaduna, Kano, Abuja, Keffi and in Jos where they finished runners-up in the race for the  NASCO Cup last December.

Chairman, Nigeria Police Polo Association CSP Usman Abdullahi Machika who dropped this hint said after the highly successful Police Biennial Games that took place in Ibadan, the IGP Strikers is starting a gradual build-up ahead of the continuation of the 2024 polo season billed to gallop off in May.

The Police Polo Chairman who is also the IGP Strikers ’Captain added that as part of the gradual build-up, the team will need to look at its horse power, the playing equipment and always set up a training programme to keep the players fit in good time for the season.

“We are looking forward to the 2024 season with high hopes and with the full support and backing of our Patron and benefactor, The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. We are aiming to surpass our impressive performances of last year,” he declared.
