3 hours ago 21

Hi-Tech Construction is set to empower about 60 members of the Communities directly affected by the Lagos-Calabar Coastal road project through vocational skills training initiative.

The construction company will carry out the screening exercise for vocational skills in collaboration with key stakeholders, as part of the Coastal road project’s social impact and livelihood restoration plan.

The screening exercise, scheduled for March 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, will take place at the Eti-Osa Local Government Secretariat’s Skill Acquisition Centre.

“Giving back to the communities impacted by major infrastructure projects is not just a responsibility but a necessity. Through this vocational skills training, we are not only restoring livelihoods but also positioning individuals for greater economic opportunities,”

David Omaghomi, Community relations manager at LCCH, Hi-Tech Construction.

According to him, the programme is designed for 60 participants exclusively from the Communities directly affected by the Coastal road project from Oniru to Iberokodo.

He noted that the programme would equip beneficiaries with both technical and soft skills, ensuring their integration into the ongoing development while supporting long-term economic sustainability.

Omaghomi stated that the screening would select participants from an initial pool of 150 candidates across the following skill categories: Hard Skills (30 participants): Solar Power & Electrical, Masonry, Plumbing, Painting & Design, and Mechanical Repairs, and Soft Skills (30 participants): Video Editing, Photography, Digital Marketing, Fashion Design, Shoe-making, and Auto Mechanics.

“Beyond vocational training, Hi-Tech Construction is implementing a range of social impact initiatives, including local business empowerment to stimulate economic activity, infrastructure rehabilitation projects such as road maintenance, flood abatement, and water boreholes, and healthcare and education support to improve overall community well-being.”

Omaghomi also stated that the initiative would be documented through video coverage, third-party media reporting, and ongoing impact assessments.
