A group of armed men stormed Elyon Paradise Ministry Church in Asagba Ogwashi, Delta State, during a Friday night vigil, abducting six worshippers and severely injuring the pastor.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the assailants shot the church leader, Apostle Divine Omodia, and brutally severed two of his fingers before fleeing with six congregants to an undisclosed location.
“The pastor was rushed to the hospital, where doctors are battling to save his life. Since the attack, the kidnappers have not contacted anyone for ransom,” a source disclosed.
“Till today (Sunday), the kidnappers have not called to demand a ranson for the release of the abducted victims since the incident occurred,” a source told Punch.
As of Sunday, there had been no communication from the abductors regarding their demands or the condition of the victims.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated that a dedicated rescue team has been deployed and is actively combing the nearby forest in an effort to locate and rescue the kidnapped individuals.
