Godwin Amobi Alo Emerges Global President Of FEGOCOWOSA

ABUJA – Dr. Godwin Amobi Alo has emerged as the Global President of the Federal Government College Warri Old Students’ Association (FEGOCOWOSA) for a two-year tenure.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Association’s Secretary, Mr. Esosa Igbineweka. According to the statement, the general election took place during the Annual General Congress—an elective congress marking the end of the George Uriesi-led executive.

The congress was held on 22nd February 2025 in Warri, Delta State.

Other officers elected alongside Dr. Alo include: Andrew Amadasun – Vice President; Esosa Igbineweka – Secretary; Oshevire Doghor – Assistant Secretary; AbdulHameed Ashara – Financial Secretary; Valentine Oribhabor – Publicity Secretary; Timeyin Baiyekusi – Legal Adviser; Osaretin Uhuangho – Treasurer; Iroro Umukoro – Internal Auditor; and George Uriesi – Ex Officio and Immediate Past President (IPP).

The statement highlights Dr. Alo’s impressive professional and extra-professional experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, a Master of Science Degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Geophysics.

Until his election, Dr. Alo served as the Global Vice President of FEGOCOWOSA and previously chaired the Abuja Branch. He also served for four years as the President of the PESCUNNA Foundation, established by his Class of 1990 at Federal Government College, Warri.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Dr. Alo previously served as its General Secretary and currently chairs the NMGS Awards and Prizes Committee.

He is a Registered Geoscientist with the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists of Nigeria (COMEG), and a member of the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA) and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). Additionally, he sits on the Board of the African Centre for Mineral Exploration and Development (ACMED).

“He is a thoroughbred geosciences and mining expert professional and currently works with the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency,” the statement added.
