Super Eagles interim head coach, Finidi George has kind words for defender, Benjamin Tanimu following his impressive performance in the side’s victory over Ghana.

Tanimu made his debut for the Super Eagles in the 2-1 friendly win at the Grande Stade de Marrakech on Friday night.

The Ihefu FC of Tanzania centre-back paired Semi Ajayi and Chidozie Awaziem in defence.

The former Bendel Insurance player gave a good account of himself in the game.

Tanimu was replaced by Ademola Lookman 11 minutes from time.

Finidi was impressed with his performance in the game.

“Great. He is a player that I wanted while he was still at Bendel Insurance but it didn’t work out,” he told a post-match press conference.

“With all the injuries that we had, we had to look for a player that can substitute and it came to my mind to invite him and he’s doing so well in his club in Tanzania, so why not.”

Finidi speaks further on Tanimu’s performance: “Not bad. Being his first time, it’s not easy wearing those national colours but overall I would give him credit.
