Fidau for late Kwara monarch holds Saturday

The Fidau for the Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State, Oba AbdulRafiu Olaniyi Ajiboye Oyelaran has been fixed for Saturday in Oro according to the Oloriewe of Oro Kingdom and former Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin.

Oba AbdulRafiu Olaniyi Ajiboye Oyelaran died at the weekend after 22 years reign at the age 76 years.

The second-class monarch passed on at a private hospital in Ilọrin in the wee hours of Saturday after months on admission contrary to earlier reports that he died in the palace.

He had previously spent over a year at UITH for a series of surgeries over an undisclosed ailment, it was gathered.

He has since been buried according to Islamic rights inside the palace.

City & Crime reports that the monarch died amidst a strong push to be recognised as a first-class monarch which was not fulfilled.

In his condolence message, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was bestowed with the Akorede of Oro Kingdom by the late monarch described him as a peacemaker, father figure to all and passionate about the development of his community.

On his part, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambar, said the deceased had a strong-will for community and human capital development. He prayed Almighty to grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
