Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof Joseph Utsev has warned that the federal government will not hesitate to sanction any company that compromises standards in the production of water pipes in the country.

The minister gave the warning when he carried out an assessment tour of Panar Limited, the manufacturer of HDPE pipes, segmented fittings, and PPR pipes.

Utsev said the visit was part of the ministry’s routine check on companies producing pipes for water infrastructure in the country.

After the tour of the company, Utsev acknowledged with delight the quality of pipes being produced at the factory which he noted could stand the test of time when put to use especially for water reticulation.

He thanked the managing director and chief executive officer of the company for investing his resources in the country saying it will create job opportunities for the teeming population and add value to the economy of the nation.

Prof Utsev maintained that the administration of President Bola Tinubu will continue to encourage and provide an enabling environment for local manufacturers and the private sector to thrive.

He called on wealthy Nigerians to invest in the water and sanitation sector to enable the country to achieve SDG 6, access to sustainable water and sanitation for all by the year 2030.

Earlier while conducting the minister round the factory, the managing director of the company, Mr Shiv Daryani explained that the raw materials used for the production of the pipes were being sourced locally in the country adding that the pipes manufactured were of high quality that could withstand any pressure and stand the test of time.

Daryani who said the pipes could be used for water reticulation and industrial projects, assured the minister that the company will never compromise the standard it has been known for over the years.
