
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, Thursday, stated that the federal government has terminated the 98km Oyo-Ogbomoso road contract awarded to Reynolds Construction Company (RCC).
The minister who said this at a Federal Roads Stakeholders’ engagement, themed, ‘Enhancing Federal Roads in Oyo state: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions,’ in Ibadan also hinted that the Iwo road – Ojoo end of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway is to be flagged off Friday.
Represented by the director, Federal Ministry of Works in South West, Comfort Emeyonu, Umahi said the project is long overdue.
The minister stated the commitment of the federal government towards ensuring good roads and infrastructures for Nigerians and assured that the Oyo – Ogbomosho road would soon be re-awarded to another contractor.
Chairman, House Committee on Works and the representative of Egbeda/Ona Ara federal constituency, Hon. Akin Alabi, said the federal government is committed to ensuring federal roads across the nation, particularly in Oyo state are safe, durable and efficient for all users.
