Exporters Should Package Their Products For Export –Alabi

2 days ago 21

As Nigeria continues to witness harsh economic conditions and scarcity of foreign exchange, Dr. Oluwasegun Alabi, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at Factotum Nigeria Limited, has called on entrepreneurs to produce products that can be exported to other countries in order to earn foreign exchange for the country.

Speaking in an interview in Lagos with Daily Independent, he said that entrepreneurs should package their products in a way that meets international standards, adding the world is waiting for products from Nigeria.

Alabi called on customs agents, the government and other stakeholders to harness information and disseminate the same to entrepreneurs who want to export their products to other countries in the world.

He flayed the low volume of export from Nigeria, adding that it is too low; he argued that the is need for quality engagement with intending exporters.

The Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at Factotum Nigeria Limited stated that there is the need to educate exporters on the need to properly package their products because according to him, “packaging in is very important in any business.”

He argued that the export business favours Nigerian exporters because of the low value of the naira compared to currencies like the dollar, pound sterling and others.

“Nigerian exporters are making money and smiling to the bank. This is a good time to be an exporter in Nigeria.

“I want Nigerian entrepreneurs to produce high quality products that can be exported to other countries in order to earn foreign exchange for the country. There is a need to drive more export and earn exchange for the country.

“The over reliance on crude oil for external revenues is not good for the Nigerian economy because it exposes the economy to the vagaries of the international oil market.

“This is the right time for intending entrepreneurs who want to enter the export business to do so; the value of the dollar is high and the value of the naira is low. The market situation favours exporters at the moment; it’s a win-win situation for exporters,” he stated.
