A former governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has remained in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ilorin, the state capital.

LEADERSHIP gathered yesterday that Ahmed who was also the state’s commissioner for finance for almost eight years during the tenure of his predecessor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was being interrogated by the EFCC on N10 billion projects executed during his tenure as the governor of the state.

Ahmed reported at the EFCC office on Monday to honour an invitation by the agency.

A source told LEADERSHIP that Ahmed was invited at the weekend and presented himself to the agency at about 9am on Monday and had remained in the office as at 7pm on yesterday.

The source who said he didn’t know the projects that the former governor was invited to clarify at the office, however, said that “what I can tell you is that Ex-governor Ahmed is still with the EFCC and has not been released as at 7pm on Tuesday”.

All efforts to get the reaction of the chief press secretary to the former governor, Alhaji AbdulWahab Oba, proved abortive.

Oba had in a statement on Monday described the EFCC invitation to Ahmed as” not only routine one, but procedural.”
