Ekweremadu urges arm-wrestling association to shop for funds, resources

Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Enugu State, Barr. Barrister Lloyd  Ekweremadu, has charged newly inaugurated Enugu state Arm- wrestling Association Board, to move out, seek for fund and resources to develop  the Sport.   

Ekweremadu who gave the charge on Friday while inaugurating Enugu state Arm- wrestling Association Board in his office,  commended the Association Board members for their hard-work and integrity  as  members of the Association Board, noted that the Association is new and will  be charting a new path , in Enugu state.  

 He assured, that the Ministry will  support and provide an enabling environment  for them to develop and  produce champions.              

“There is a new wave in the Ministry, Sports Association Boards have become pro -active in seeking funds and resources .Gone were the days government fund Sports Associations. Go out seek funds and resources. Sports is private sector driven the  world-over.

  “Government will provide you moral backing and the enabling environment to succeed. You have a lot of work  to do and I know you will succeed. Your nomination  as members of the Association  proves, that you have the integrity and passion  to develop the Sport. You are pioneers  of a brand new Sport, you will be charting a new path for ARM-WRESTLING  in Enugu State.  You have to work with the Ministry to raise champions from  young teeming and  strong youths,” he said.          

In his acceptance speech, on behalf of the newly inaugurated Enugu State Arm- wrestling  Association Board , the Chairman , Dr BGC Agu, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for inaugurating them and   assured,   they will work- hard and in collaboration with  the Ministry to produce champions adding that they will not disappoint the Commissioner.                  

   In his goodwill message, the Director Coaching in the Ministry and Board member of the Association, Mr Ephraim Ochomma, enjoined the Association to help scout and nurture athletes who will represent the State in national and international  events.   

In his vote of thanks the Coach Arm- wrestling Association , Mr Bernard  Chinweze, explained that the Association, has athletes  who can win medals for the State and  promised that Arm- wrestling athletes who will participate in a Championship next month will do the state proud.
