The administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has concluded plans to enrol over 500,000 new enrollees into the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme (EDHIS) before the end of this year.
This was disclosed by the Director-General of EDHIS, Mrs Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo, at the medical outreach in commemoration of 100 days in office of Governor Okpebholo.
Edo State intends to make tremendous strides towards Universal Health Coverage this year. The Director General disclosed that EDHIS was working tirelessly to make sure that over 500,000 new enrollees were brought into the EDHIS and Edo State residents were protected against high out-of-pocket expenditures for health and they will also access quality health care at the state-owned healthcare facilities.
The DG stated that strategies to enlighten residents of the State will be highlighted and she also emphasised why public awareness of EDHIS was very critical to its success, adding that every resident will be aware of the benefits of EDHIS and also various innovative initiatives implemented by the EDHIS team.
Vulnerable people in the State will not be left out of EDHIS as it has come up with various innovative approaches to address the needs of the vulnerable Edo residents.
