Why Trump wants Canada as US 51st state – PM Justin Trudeau

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, has suggested why President Donald Trump of the United States, US, wants his country as America’s 51st state.

Trudeau suggested that Trump and the US are aware of the “many critical minerals” Canada has, hence the demand for his country to become the 51st state.

He disclosed this during a phone conversation with Trump where they discussed several issues, a statement by the White House revealed on Saturday evening.

According to Trudeau: “I suggest that not only does the Trump administration know how many critical minerals we have, but that may be even why they keep talking about absorbing us and making us the 51st state.

“They’re very aware of our resources, of what we have, and they very much want to be able to benefit from those.”

The US president recently decried the US trade deficit with Canada, stressing that “there is no reason” for such an imbalance.

Posting on social media, Trump wrote: “We don’t need anything they have.

“We have unlimited energy, should make our own cars, and have more Lumber than we can ever use. Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable country. Harsh but true!

“Therefore, Canada should become our Cherished 51st State.

“Much lower taxes, and far better military protection for the people of Canada – AND NO TARIFFS!”
