DSS seals clinic over quackery, death in Plateau

The Department of State Services (DSS) has sealed AL-Ihsan Clinic in the Unguwan Rogo community in Jos North LGA of Plateau State due to allegations of quackery and the reported death of a female patient.

It was learnt that the death of the woman last week following a surgery performed by one Mr Abdul Lukman sparked reactions in the area, with many attributing the death to the surgery, which subsequently raised concerns about Abdul’s medical speciality.

Sources said the action of the DSS followed complaints by some members of the community to the state’s Ministry of Health and the DSS regarding the alleged quackery in the clinic.

A source, Muhammad Albasu, explained that, “The primary reason for sealing the hospital is the alleged quackery activities at the clinic which came to light after a woman’s death following a surgical procedure there. The issue is that Mr Lukman is not a qualified medical doctor. In fact, he is not a doctor at all, and therefore lacks the necessary qualifications to perform surgical procedures. He is not doctor. He is currently schooling but he has been carrying out surgery on people in the community.”
