A media expert, Mrs Moji Makanjuola, has urged media houses to be cautious of churning out crisis-prone reports that will burn Nigeria just to make sales or bear the title of best media outfit.

She spoke in Abuja during a press conference by President of the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, to announce the upcoming national spokesperson summit organized by the Institute.

She said in the bid to break a story and make sales, most reporters or media organisations push out stories, not minding the consequences of the report.

She noted that the best way to quell a crisis while making a report was to meet experts in a field and crisis managers to explain any issue in a way the report wouldn’t cause a crisis.

Makanjuola warned that if the media organizations continued the way they were going, a crisis could erupt and burn the country, hence, no country would be able to take refugees of over two hundred million people.

On his part, chairman, planning committee of the upcoming spokesperson summit, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, lamented that the airwaves seems to be saturated with violent communication, which has created lots of crisis and distrust in the country.
