A deepening crisis of confidence is unfolding at the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, as heads of parastatals are allegedly undermining the efforts of the minister, Adegboyega Oyetola.
While Oyetola, the immediate past governor of Osun state, remains committed to driving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed agenda for the blue economy, entrenched interests have allegedly emerged as major roadblocks to his mission.
A source within the ministry informed that Oyetola is now charting new paths to achieving his mandate, which may require resorting to higher authorities.
It was further gathered that the minister is also cautious in hurriedly reporting the matter to higher offices until he exhausts all options within his purview.
Sources said important files of various parastatals are allegedly hidden from the Minister, thus impeding some actions he ought to take.
“It has not been easy for the Minister because of some uncooperative parastatal heads. The issue is causing roadblocks to delivering set goals. But he’s determined to succeed against all odds”, the source said.
