A chef in Benue State, Naira Victor, on Sunday, hit 120 hours of cooking in his quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Our correspondent reports that the title Victor seeks to achieve is currently being held by an Irish chef, Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes to dethrone Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci.

The 30-year-old Benue chef has however surpassed Fisher’s timing as of Sunday, March 3, having reached 120 hours and still cooking to meet his 135-hour goal of longest cooking by an individual.

Victor, who began cooking on Tuesday to reach his remarkable 135-hour non-stop cooking marathon, had attracted dignitaries from far and wide at the Tiger Bar, the venue of the event in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Governor Hyacinth Alia was among the dignitaries who visited the venue to cheer up the chef and encourage other youths in the state to engage in profitable ventures capable of putting Benue on the world’s map.

Alia was accompanied by the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, House of Representatives members; Lady Blessing Onuh, Prince Solomon Wombo, and other top government functionaries.
