Worried by frequent violent clashes among thugs locally known as Yan Daba, the police in Kano State have given the Sheka community in Kumbotso Local Government Area 24 hours to furnish the command with the names of all notorious thugs who unleash violence on the community.
At a meeting with the community to address the problem of persistent violence perpetrated by the thugs, the police commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, represented by the Tarauni Area commander, ACP Yushau Masud, said unless the community shares information with the police which may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the violence, the thugs will continue to hurt the residents.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who was at the meeting, said important decisions were taken to bring to an end the menace of clashes in the area.

The residents of the area promised to forward the names of the suspected thugs involved in the fight as well as those selling illicit drugs to the youth in the area.
Sheka PCRC chairman, Aminu Magaji, told the meeting that the people were willing to collaborate to bring public safety and confidence in the area.
