As part of its corporate social responsibility, the BUA cement company has donated assorted drugs worth N35 million to its 16 host communities in Sokoto state.
Speaking while presenting the drugs at the cement quarters in Sokoto, the Managing Director , Engineer Yusuf Haliru Binji, said it has been the tradition of the company to each year to assist its host communities with assorted drugs and other needs
Engineer Binji who was represented at the ceremony by the Director Administration and Corporate Services, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, said the company had in the preceding years provided scholarships to indigenes of the areas, donated solar powered boreholes, textbooks and school furniture
Other items included thousands of bags of cement to repair mosques, cemeteries and waterways
“At BUA cement, giving back to our host communities is of paramount importance to us.
” We are dedicated and committed to giving back to our host communities to add value to our common relationship, which is mutually beneficial,” the MD stated.
Engineer Yusuf expressed appreciations for the enormous support and understanding that the company is enjoying from the host communities
He said that the success story of the company would not have been possible without the enormous support from the host communities
He also commended the Sokoto state government for his unrelenting support and advise the company is getting from the governor.
He assured that the company will continue to support the government of Sokoto state in its determined effort to better the lives of ordinary people
Also speaking, the chairman of Wamakko local government, Alhaji Umar Ahmed Dundaye commended, the company over the gesture which according to him started with 8 communities only and increased to 16.
