BoT member, Idahosa, quits PDP
A member of the Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Charles Idahosa, has resigned his membership in the party.
The party chieftain in Edo State, in a letter titled “Letter of Resignation,” addressed to the Chairman of Ehor Ward 1 of the party in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State and copied to the Chairman, BoT of the PDP, South-South National Vice Chairman, the State Chairman, and Uhunmwonde Local Government Chairman of the party, did not give any reason for his decision.
“Throughout my tenure within the Peoples Democratic Party, I have been privileged to contribute to its vision and mission. However, after careful consideration, I believe it is time for me to pursue new paths and opportunities beyond the party’s confines,” the letter read in part.
Recall that Idahosa was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but decamped with Governor Godwin Obaseki to the PDP after he (Obaseki) was disqualified from contesting the primary for the 2020 governorship election in the party. He was a former local government chairman and a political adviser to the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole.
Daily Trust reports that while the PDP in Edo State has been having its own running battle between the faction loyal to Governor Obaseki and the group led by Dan Orbih, the party’s Vice Chairman (South-South), the recent fallout from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting has led to the exit of several chieftains of the party from the nearby South-East geopolitical zone.
