Anambra students back Soludo’s reelection bid

Students in Anambra state under the aegis of Solution Students Movement of Nigeria (SSMN), weekend, vowed to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reelection bid on November 8, 2025, citing his achievements in education, infrastructure and security.

The students from various tertiary institutions in the state namely, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu, Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Tansian University Umunya and Metallurgical Training Institute, made their intention known while inaugurating the movement at Igbariam.

Speaking on behalf of SSMN, the Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Anambra state, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, expressed their readiness to mobilise their colleagues and other resources to enable the governor emerge victorious at the poll.

Welcoming the group, the Special Adviser to governor Chukwuma Soludo on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to youth empowerment through education, security and healthcare.

On his part, the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Mr. Ossy Onuko, described the move as a welcome development, assuring that the governor’s ongoing construction of 21 smart schools across 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and other educational policies would lower the rate of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Earlier, the acting Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Kate Omenugha, urged students to shun thuggery as well as vote wisely at the forthcoming Anambra state gubernatorial poll.
