Anambra: Lawmaker trains, empowers 50 youths on ICT

The member representing Ogbaru federal constituency at House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Ogene, Monday, trained and empowered 50 youths in the constituency on information and communication technology (ICT).

The training which held at Iyiowa-Odekpe, Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra state, also had the benefator distributing ICT tools and financial support to practise.

Ogene, represented at the occasion by his Chief of Staff (COS), Mr Chinedu Uwolloh, described the training and empowerment as part of his economic development strategy aimed at exposing the constituents to opportunities capable of turning them into job creators.

“Our aim is not just to give our people fish, but to also teach them how to fish. Apart from university education, which we also support with access and opportunities for our people, we also thought it wise to incorporate some economic enhancing soft skills in addition to useful skills in evolving technologies which we started last year with the training in solar energy for our youths,” he added.

Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogbaru LGA, Chief Emeka Nwosu, who praised Ogene for justifying the trust people gave to him, recalled that he has earlier trained and equipped some of the constituents in fishery, sola energy installation, among others.

In separate interviews, some of the beneficiaries, Miss Franklin Okoli, Udoka Enebeli, Jennifer Ijeoma and Chidinma Anyaoha, thanked the lawmaker for consistently facilitating the training to change their lives for economic and personal empowerment.

Earlier, the trainer from Creedtec Engineering Ltd, Mr.Chiedozie Akwila, urged the beneficiaries to ensure they use the training and resources to improve their respective careers.
